The History department at Big Bend Community College seeks to prepare students for engagement with the wider world through a variety of courses designed to teach practical skills such as solving problems by gathering, interpreting, combining and/or applying information from multiple sources, teamwork, and communicating clearly and effectively.  Students are brought face-to-face with a wide variety of issues from the global past and present and asked to think critically about them.  Department instructors seek to use innovative teaching to pique students’ interest and present new ways of thinking in a classroom atmosphere that is both fun and challenging.  All of Big Bend’s history classes transfer to Washington State’s public universities, and many are Running Start approved (check with your school district).

  • Students will be able to recognize or articulate personal/interpersonal aspects of, or connections between, diverse cultural, social, or political contexts.
