Eligibility For Services

Students that have a disability in one or more of the following categories may be eligible for services. An intake packet, interview and/or relevant documentation from external sources may be requested to substantiate the student’s disability and determine eligibility.

  • Deaf/Hearing
  • Speech/Language
  • Blind/Visual
  • Neurological/Nervous System
  • Psychological/Emotional

  • Mobility
  • Learning
  • Chronic/Acute Health
  • Temporary disability due to accident, illness, etc.
  • Other


If you are transferring from another college to BBCC or transferring from BBCC to another college and plan on utilizing disability services, the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges has provided the following resources to assist you in your transition:

Students who have complaints regarding disability-related issues should contact the Accommodation and Accessibility Services Coordinator at (509) 793-2027 or the Dean of Student Services at (509) 793-2077. Complaint procedures are found in the student handbook under the Discrimination, Harassment, and/or Sexual Harassment section. Students who have complaints regarding disability-related issues should contact the AAS Coordinator at (509) 793-2027 or the Dean of Student Services at (509) 793-2077.

Compliance:

BBCC complies with section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. BBCC is free from discrimination in the recruitment, administration, and treatment of students. The Disability Support Services (DSS) office at BBCC provides voluntary and confidential support services for students with documented disabilities in one or more of the following categories: Deaf/Hearing, Speech/Language, Blind/Visual, Neurological/Nervous System, Psychological/Emotional, Mobility, Learning, Chronic/Acute Health, and Temporary/Other. To ensure maximum participation by all students with disabilities, the college will:
